First, we would like to thank you so much for taking the time to read our new Parent Programme blog! All our posts are co-ordinated and written by the Northern Irish Early Childhood Unit at the National Children’s Bureau, and our work is supported by the PHA.
We are aiming to post a new blog each month. With the posts, our aim is to bring our readers an in-depth, accurate, and informative insight into all of the latest information and news currently happening with Parent Programmes across Northern Ireland (or maybe even further!)
If you are unfamiliar with Parent Programmes in general, don’t worry. You’re in the right place! We have been engaging with these Programmes for years, so even though this blog is new, we already have a host of information available to inform people on what’s being done available on the website. The best place to start is probably our Parenting Programme Showcase, which you can find here: Parent Programmes.
In the beginning, this blog will align with the rest of our Parent Programme Hub, focusing primarily on four key Parent Programmes. These key programmes are: Incredible Years; Invest in Play; Togetherness (formerly known as the Solihull Approach); and Parents Plus. Each one of these programmes supports the delivery and implementation for a variety of workshops, courses, and information relating to parenthood.
So, whether you’re a new parent, or a working practitioner supporting families, you should be able to find essential and useful information.
Primarily, our vision is that this blog will become an essential additional resource. We are happy to build and change our posts in order to best fit with the requirements of our readers, and so we actively welcome engagement and feedback (we even encourage requests!) Our first post looks at the Togetherness Programme, through an interview with one of the key Northern Irish facilitators, John McLeod!
