Associate/Freelancer opportunities

At the National Children’s Bureau, we are always looking for experienced associates and freelancers to support our work across a range of disciplines and systems. 

We are currently looking for expertise in the following areas: 

• At the Council for Disabled Children, as part of the National Children’s Bureau family, we are looking to add to our associate framework as our work with local SEND systems continues to develop. We work to support systems change through leadership and implementation support, system redesign, and workforce development. If you have experience of leadership in a SEND or Children's Services systems role or bring expertise from practice locally or nationally we’d love to hear from you.  We’re looking for people with skills and experience in:  
  • proven knowledge of SEND multi-agency systems  
  • experience shaping strategic direction and policy  
  • strong facilitation and presentation skills. 
• In our Research team, we are looking for people with skills and experience in: 
  • the design and delivery of primary research methods including focus groups, interviews and surveys involving children, families and adults with support needs
  • undertaking systematic review tasks – searching, screening and extracting data  
  • assessing evidence methods and standards   
  • qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods and relevant software packages  
  • producing high-quality research outputs. 
• In the Early Childhood Unit team, we are looking for someone with strong early years expertise and the ability to work confidently across an interdisciplinary portfolio. Candidates should have some understanding of elements of the following related to early years: education, care and health policy, workforce development, family support, and evidence-informed practice. We are looking for skills and experience in:  
  • facilitation and presentation skills for meetings and workshops  
  • capacity building and training early years professionals 
  • needs analysis or desk review skills and report writing abilities 
  • experience supporting local early years services and settings to improve and redesign practice  
  • expertise in early years interventions related to the home learning environment, communications and language, or infant mental health 
  • skills in community outreach and parental involvement and engagement.
