A Commitment to Quality
Grass Roots is a thriving early years setting dedicated to providing exceptional care and education for young children. Our commitment to strong leadership, effective workforce development, and continuous quality improvement has resulted in significant achievements and positive outcomes for children, families, and staff.
Our leadership team is passionate about early childhood education and committed to fostering a positive and stimulating learning environment. We inspire and motivate ourselves and others through lifelong learning, actively seeking out opportunities to stay informed about and to take part in the latest research, best practices, and regulatory changes. We work collaboratively with staff, developing a shared vision and empowering them to make decisions, and we recognise and celebrate their achievements.
Effective leaders at Grass Roots model positive behaviour, fostering open and honest communication, empowering staff, and collaborating to solve problems. For example, we listen to the team and their concerns around children and where they are placed. We discuss options and review all possible outcomes and then allow practitioners autonomy over these choices.
We encourage them to be reflective. This gives us a confident staff team that are open to different ways of working and motivated by change. To ensure our key leaders can effectively promote and embed quality improvement processes, we provide them with professional development opportunities, regular supervision, and appraisal, and encourage peer support and collaboration.
We prioritise effective training and development to strengthen the practice of each practitioner. By regularly assessing training needs, developing tailored training programs, and encouraging practical application, we ensure our staff are equipped to provide high-quality care and education.
For example, as leaders we ensure that practitioners are aware of training opportunities and resources on offer from local universities, local authority, Early Years Stronger Practice Hubs, and early years consultants. We encourage practitioners to reflect on the training completed and ensure this is disseminated throughout the nursery through professional discussions, further training, and good practice.
To maintain compliance with legislation and regulatory requirements, we stay informed about changes, maintain up-to-date policies and procedures, and conduct regular audits. Regular supportive supervision and appraisal sessions provide opportunities to monitor performance, offer constructive feedback, set goals, and address concerns. In addition to formal processes, we encourage informal discussions and peer support to foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Our commitment to quality has resulted in good working relationships with other professional organisations, such as the local authority and stronger practice hub. We have had Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) film practice in our setting for professional development on their website. We have also had Eden Training Solutions and Vitamin Angels film at our setting for their promotional materials. We are Ofsted outstanding at both settings and have an award from Nursery World for Team Development in 2022.
As a leadership team, always developing and striving to do better, it is infectious for our staff team, and we see this within their practice and professional development.
By focusing on strong leadership, effective workforce development, and continuous quality improvement, Grass Roots is committed to providing an exceptional early years experience for all children.
