NCB statement on Northern Ireland's 'Programme for Government'

We are delighted that the Northern Ireland Executive has adopted an outcomes-based approach with its Programme for Government.

This is an extremely significant change in how government will work. It will, if operated correctly, ensure that PfG policies deliver tangible results for the benefit of all.

For the first time citizens will be at the centre of policy-making. Departments will have to work together to achieve policy objectives, and there are important implications for the way the entire civil service will work.

To that end, NCB has been heavily involved, working with the Executive to help bring about this shift in direction which is delivering great results across the world. We look forward to aiding the Executive with its aim of effective delivery, and to therefore secure improved outcomes for children, families and communities.

Outcomes-based accountability can bring huge benefits for organisations in the state, private and third sectors.

This new way of working will be showcased at a global conference on Outcomes and Impact which will be held at the Waterfront Hall Belfast on October 10 and 11.
