My time with NCB'

Simon reflects on his time doing work experience with NCB. He and one of his fellow students have spent two hours a week with us over the past ten weeks, working with different teams.

My name is Simon and over the past ten weeks I have got to spend some time doing work experience at the National Children's Bureau.

My experience was a great one for the most part. What makes me think this is the eye-opening view on charities that I was provided with. At the beginning of the work experience I had what you could call a simple and warped meaning of what a charity is and what they do.

By that I mean that I thought a charity was a company/organisation that asked people for money, then going off to spend it and then repeat that same process. I now know that charities are not just that but they are also what invites change, change for the better of course.

To add on to this I think that I learnt to do some useful things such as using Microsoft Excel and editing websites and other information.

And finally what I found best was the inclusive nature of the discussions whether we were talking about sex education, hygiene or social skills. Though the biscuits may be just a bit better than this!
