Doing the Baby Tango…among other things!

We’re all doing the Baby Tango here at National Children’s Bureau (NCB), thanks to Incredible Years® Trainer, Kimberlee Shoecraft, who joined us in late January 2017 for something of a flying visit en route to Limerick.  During her two day stop-over, Kimberlee trained 22 Incredible Years Group Leaders from across Northern Ireland in the School Age Parent Programme and provided professional supervision in the form of a full day Consultation for 15 Baby Parent Group Leaders.

These events are part of a growing calendar of activities being offered under the ‘IYNI’ banner.  Incredible Years in Northern Ireland (IYNI) is co-ordinated by NCB on behalf of the Public Health Agency (PHA) and has recently widened its reach by working in conjunction with Child Development Interventions Co-ordinators – also funded by PHA - in each of the Health & Social Care Trusts across Northern Ireland.  Our overarching aim is to develop a culture of fidelity and quality implementation and ensuring better outcomes for children and young people.  We deliver on these aims through a year-round calendar of support activities for managers, administrators and group leaders.  In 2016/17, we delivered:

  • Understanding & Promoting Fidelity training
  • Measuring Impact training
  • School Age Parent programme training
  • Peer-coaching
  • Update Your Skills
  • Consultation Days
  • Regional Practice Sharing event

We also re-launched our IY Pre-school Basic Parent Group Leader Accreditation Bursary and our 6 committed recipients are all hard at work delivering programmes, collating their paperwork and availing of professional supervision from the IYNI Peer Coach team.

We’re currently planning our 2017/18 calendar, so if your agency, service or school would benefit from training and guidance in implementing and measuring the impact of Incredible Years in Northern Ireland, please get in touch to make sure you are on our mailing list for future opportunities.  We’ll also hook you up with your local Child Development Interventions Co-ordinator who will then telephone or visit to identify your particular needs.
