Dr Jaimee Mallion is globally recognised as an esteemed researcher within the youth justice domain. Jaimee has earned a PhD and master’s in Forensic Psychology, and has since been recognised by the British Psychological Society as a fully Chartered Psychologist. Jaimee has a considerable track record of publishing in this field, including numerous academic articles, lay-person reports, parliamentary briefings, and a book focusing on the ‘Psychology of Gang Involvement’. Jaimee has been awarded large-scale grants for her work, including from the Economic and Social Research Council.
Driven by a passion for reducing youth violence, Jaimee is the first person internationally to apply the Good Lives Model, a framework for offender intervention, to reducing youth violence and street gang membership. She has worked closely with stakeholders across HMPPS, Home Office, policing, and non-governmental organisations to improve their interventions for street gang involvement, providing training and evaluation. Jaimee’s work in this area has led to her becoming a member of the invite-only Eurogang network, a group of the leading researchers worldwide studying serious youth violence.
Having been a member of Young NCB as a child, Jaimee has come full circle! She now leads research teams in NCB across multifaceted projects covering the justice and education sectors. Utilising her skills and knowledge in the youth justice domain, Jaimee is working closely with the Youth Endowment Fund on the diversion review and evaluating and updating their toolkit.
