Involving Young People in the Recruitment & Selection of Staff/Volunteers

A number of LINKS grant holders identified an interest in involving young people in the selection and recruitment of staff/volunteers.  Many grant holders already do this and this workshop explored how they do it and the benefits and challenges arising from it.

Foyle Down Syndrome Trust presented on their experiences of involving young people and participants also heard Youth Initiatives perspective via their case study.  As well as hearing from LINKS grant holders, participants also heard from young people on their experiences of being involved in recruitment processes.

The aims of this workshop were as follows:

  • To examine why we involve young people in the selection and recruitment of staff
  • To explore the benefits and challenges for both the young people and the organisation
  • To find out more about young people's experiences of being involved in selection/recruitment processes
