A former Chief Executive of the National Children's Bureau and figures from across the children's sector have been named in the Birthday Honours.
A former Chief Executive of the National Children's Bureau, Dr Hilary Emery, has been appointed CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list, alongside a host of figures from across the children's and disabilities sectors.
Dr Hilary Emery preceded our current Chief Executive, and has a distinguished career working to improve children's lives, specialising in education, and is honorary Norham Fellow at the University of Oxford.
The Birthday Honours list also included awards for those working across the children's and disabilites sectors:
Debbie Barnes, the Director of Children's Services in Lincolnshire and Chair of the Association of Director of Children's Services's (ADCS) Educational Committee, is appointed OBE, as are the National Network of Parent Carer Forum's (NNPCF) Karen Hoe, and Neil Churchill, Director of Patient Experience for NHS England. Also receiving OBEs are Diane Rochford, the Executive Headteacher of the John F Kennedy Special School and Chair of the Rochford Review and Dr Ashok Roy, the Clinical Lead on Learning Disabilities for Health Education England. Anne Ross, Chief Exectuive of Add-Vance, is appointed MBE. Other MBEs include Jane Raca, for services to Disabled People and their Families, and Melian Mansfield, Chair of the Campaign for State Education, and many more.
