We’re excited to share interim learning from Belonging Matters — our pilot programme helping schools strengthen pupils’ sense of belonging, with a particular focus on disabled children and young people and children and young people with special educational needs.

Across 11 London schools, we’ve seen real shifts in school culture, leadership focus, and staff confidence — even within the first phase of delivery. Schools are embedding new routines, adapting policies, and using pupil voice to shape more inclusive environments.

This summary interim report captures early insights from school audits, surveys and facilitated sessions — showing how practical, whole-school action can start to make a difference.
