As one of five major programmes set up by The National Lottery Community Fund to test and learn from new approaches to designing services that aim to make people's lives healthier and happier, the work of the A Better Start programme is grounded in scientific evidence and research.

NCB has designed and delivered an ambitious programme of shared learning and development support for A Better Start, working within, across and beyond the five partnership areas.

This includes writing and publishing a series of detailed Programme Insight Reports, organising and hosting annual national shared learning conferences and editing and co-ordinating regular blog insights from key personnel from the five partnerships.

    Each year since 2021, NCB has organised a national conference to share learnings from the five A Better Start partnerships.
