Our Making it REAL programme has a proven track record in raising early achievement in literacy.
Evidence consistently shows the importance of parents as children's first educators, and of practitioners supporting parents in this role.
The original REAL project has the highest effectiveness rating of 3 from the Early Intervention Foundation (EIF), with a randomised control trial finding the programme to have a ‘statistically significant positive impact on a number of child outcomes’.
Engaging parents in their children's early literacy development has been shown to improve children's outcomes and is a valuable intervention for narrowing the gap between disadvantaged and other children.
Our training days are delivered face-to-face, are interactive, and incorporate all the resources required to deliver REAL into the homes of families you work with. We can provide online training if required.
Finding out about Making it REAL (1-day course)
Making it REAL training enables practitioners to use REAL (Raising Early Achievement in Literacy) and hands over the REAL approach to parents and families, building confidence and knowledge to support the early home learning environment. The training includes information about using REAL to support work with two-year-olds.
Putting Making it REAL into practice (2-day course)
This two-day course further explores the Making it REAL approach and ORIM framework and offers support for planning a project using the approach, including information on evaluating impact.
