By Emma, YNCB Advisory Group Member
My name is Emma and I recently joined YNCB, I joined because I wanted to advocate for other children and speak out my opinion.
I had my first meeting on January 27th where I met the other members some of who had been in YNCB for ages, some who had just joined, like me. During the start of the meeting, we got to know each other with an icebreaker then moving on to discussing ideas about rules within the group which involved writing boundaries for us and others. Next, we discussed ideas for the next meeting which involved us filling in ideas on what we should discuss to make a start on our plans - most of the activities were group work which was the perfect opportunity to meet other members and work together. We switched between group several times so the new members could meet old ones and get the idea of what we have progressed to so far.
Overall, I would say the meeting went very successfully and it was great to meet new people and get a good look of what we would be doing over these next few meetings. This opportunity is an amazing one that is not only fun but educational in the way it grows your brain in ideas to help advocate and make ourselves heard.
