Evidence consistently shows the importance of parents as children's first educators, and of practitioners supporting parents in this role.
Engaging parents in their children's early literacy development has been shown to improve children's outcomes and is a valuable intervention for narrowing the gap between disadvantaged and other children.
Making it REAL training enables practitioners to use REAL (Raising Early Achievement in Literacy ) and hands over the REAL approach to parents and families, building confidence and knowledge to support the early home learning environment. 'The trainer was an amazing facilitator, they covered all the things we identified and really delivered bespoke training. The trainer … adapted her practice very fast according to feedback and to our specific need. I can`t recommend REAL enough and the trainer`s facilitation of this training. I feel it will really change our planning, practice and delivery and consequently raise our children’s level of development in literacy. Thank you.'
