Our Natural Thinkers programme has a proven track record in supporting practitioners and teachers to connect children to nature.
Evidence consistently shows that children who spend quality time outdoors see improvements in their wellbeing as well as academic achievement, school attendance and self-regulation.
Natural Thinkers was evaluated as part of Lambeth Early Action Partnership (LEAP) through which it was delivered for 10 years. The evaluation showed that children who took part in the programme had higher levels of wellbeing and were more engaged in activities in their early years settings. You can read the evaluation report here.
Natural Thinkers aims to increase outdoor learning for all children whether there is easy access to green space in your local area or not. Specially designed, accessible activities are provided, enabling settings with little outdoor space to maximise use of what they do have.
‘As a staff team, we’ve really enjoyed our Natural Thinkers journey. The initial training motivated everyone to improve our practice…we have dug, planted, recycled and reused and the children have benefitted in so many different ways. Our parents are engaged and amazed at what their children can do!’, Headteacher - recent feedback
Our training is delivered face-to-face and incorporates both theory and practical demonstrations and participation in Natural Thinkers outdoor activities. We can also provide online training if required.
