The 'Youth Empowerment Programme' will empower 30 young people (aged between 13 and 18) with an acquired brain injury (ABI) and their families to understand the impact that ABI has on the young person, strengthening the family unit.
Peer support Mentoring Programmes, based in the Belfast and Southern Health and Social Care Trust areas, will match young adults with an ABI with young people with an ABI. Through mentoring, young people will be empowered to express how they feel and will be better equipped to integrate and socialise within their community.
Young people will have improved emotional and social skills and be more confident in expressing themselves. Families will experience improved communication and better relationships.
