The five-year Hidden Communities project is using a £499,736 grant for a project to improve the education and life opportunities of young people in the Divis area of west Belfast.
The project is working with parents and young people to help tackle issues including personal safety and supporting young people to avoid anti-social and criminal activity. The project is working with local schools St. Josephs and St. Peters to deliver a personal safety programme for children aged 8-11.
Young people are helping to lead a development programme for 11-18 year olds who are at risk of criminal or self-harming activities. The project is also supporting young people aged 14-18 who have been involved in antisocial behaviour.
The young people will join youth forums outside the Divis area to provide leadership and become role models within the wider community.
