Claire has worked with NCB since 2009.
She holds a dual role – as Senior Research and Development Manager in the Evidence and Impact team, and as lead for early years work in Northern Ireland, within the Early Childhood Unit. Claire holds a Masters in Social Research Methods, and in 2022, completed a Doctorate in Childhood Studies. Her dissertation focused on the use of mobile technology to support literacy and numeracy outcomes in the primary school classroom.
Claire leads NCB’s work in NI to support the Public Health Agency in their implementation of the Infant Mental Health Framework and Action Plan. She is passionate about promoting the importance of prevention and early intervention to build foundations for strong, positive social and emotional development and wellbeing, and works to ensure that the needs of babies and infants, and their families, are reflected in policy and service development.
“It’s really rewarding to see NCB’s work make a difference to the lives of children and families through direct engagement with policy makers, practitioners and of course children and young people themselves, who remind us regularly of why we do what we do.”
