Early Childhood Unit

We strengthen the early years sector and deliver transformational programmes in homes, settings and across whole areas.

The Early Childhood Unit is the nerve centre of NCB's work to shape the development of early years policy and practice.

We develop the National Quality Improvement Network to drive improvements for young children and their families and strengthen NCB's capacity to bring together stakeholders nationally and regionally to reflect on Government policy and support practice development. 

Our flagship Making It REAL programme, developed by the University of Sheffield, has proved effective at improving early literacy and transforming performance across local areas.
