We have developed a one-day training course for practitioners, leaders and managers in early years settings who would like to apply the Making it REAL approach to early mathematics.
Using the ORIM framework developed by Professors Cathy Nutbrown and Peter Hannon, A REAL Approach to Early Mathematics explores ways in which parents can provide opportunities, recognition, interaction and modelling to support their children’s learning and development in mathematics at home.
This training day has been developed from findings from our project work in early years settings and will include resources and ideas for you to use with families.
At the end of the training day participants will:
- Be confident with the research evidence relating to A REAL Approach to Early Mathematics.
- Have increased confidence to talk to parents about providing opportunities, recognition, interaction and models to support children’s early mathematics.
- Have shared ideas of how to engage parents in their children’s early mathematical development.
Cost: £2,500 for 20 participants.
'Very useful training, perfectly pitched. Interesting, fast paced and interactive! Great resources to take away! Thank you!'
'Excellent, meaningful and easy to implement back in our setting.'
'I will use REAL maths alongside the REAL literacy when working with families. Lots of good ideas to promote maths and develop parents confidence in recognising and providing opportunities for maths in the EHLE.'
