This free training opportunity is only open to staff (full time, part time or in a volunteer capacity) who have been recruited through Independent Support agencies and Information, Advice and Support services (IASS) to act as independent supporters. Before attending this training participants are required to complete two introductory online learning modules.
The training is intended to ensure Independent Supporters have the knowledge, skills and confidence, to be able to work effectively when supporting parents/carers of children with SEN, and young people with SEN, through Education, Health and Care assessment and planning (EHCP) process.
This is a two day back-to-back training session. By booking onto this event, you will need to be available to complete both days consecutively, in the same group, in order to complete the training. The Legal training will be followed by the Role of the Independent Supporter (RoIS) training.
This training is accredited through the CPD certification scheme, each training day will be worth up to 6 CPD hours. Therefore by completing the online training (1 day) and the face to face (2 days) you will be eligible for 18 CPD hours.
Who should attend?
This is a closed course and only available to Independent Supporters (full time, part time or in a volunteer capacity) who have been recruited by IS agencies and Information Advice and Support Services under contract to Council for Disabled Children.
Important notice: Delegates are required to complete the online training modules before attending both the face-to-face Legal and RoIS training. Therefore, please be mindful when booking dates that you will need to have completed the online training before attending the face-to-face training. Failure to do so will result in you not receiving your certificate on the day.
