The Evidence Store
Developed by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) to support the Early Years Stronger Practice Hubs, the Evidence Store is an evidence-based framework of what works to support child outcomes, to underpin the work of the Hubs, and them to translate evidence into practice. The aim is to support reflection and discussion about practice, using a shared language.
Each theme in the Evidence Store has a set of evidence-informed approaches which includes information on the strength of the evidence and a definition of the approach. Each approach includes: a summary of the evidence; a “snapshot” film showing what the approach might look like; list of practices that may be used to implement the approach; and short spotlight videos and written scenarios to see the practices in action.
The Evidence Store currently includes four themes and more will be included by the end of 2024.
Evidence-informed professional development
The EEF is working with the Hubs to increase access to evidence-based professional development programmes. Early years settings across England can access funded professional development programmes through their partnership with the Hubs.
About the Education Endowment Foundation
The EEF is the Department for Education’s Evidence Partner for the Early Years Stronger Practice Hub programme, and will support the Hubs by providing accessible information about the evidence around Early Years pedagogy and processes that support practice change.
The EEF is an independent charity dedicated to breaking the link between family income and educational achievement. They do this by supporting schools, colleges, and nurseries to improve teaching and learning through better use of evidence.
