We are increasing awareness of factors which determine the health of mothers and young children, the inequalities they experience in relation to their health and care services, and the devastating impact this can have on their lives.
Our recent work
- We have been helping Public Health England to develop an interactive tool which brings together data on mental health in the antenatal and postnatal periods, and the social and emotional development of babies and toddlers. The tool helps to give commissioners an indication of perinatal and infant mental health need in their area. Access it here.
- Working with the Mental Health Foundation (MHF), we held a national seminar on perinatal and infant mental health in July 2015 to identify the work being done and the support needed to assist the commissioning of perinatal mental health services. Download the seminar report.
- We hosted a seminar in September 2014 called Maternal health and wellbeing: examining key influences, impact and routes to better health for children and their mothers, which debated the impact of maternal health during pregnancy, in the early years and on longer term outcomes for children.
