In March 2015, we received a generous donation from Economy Energy’s customers that helped us to carry out a range of projects to support children and young people.
Raising awareness of Fuel Poverty
Economy Energy’s donation gave us the opportunity to carry out a fuel poverty awareness project that sought to gain insight into fuel poverty and its impact on young people.
We worked directly with young people and their families to find out about the struggles and challenges they face to pay their energy bills.
The focus of this project was to engage with young parents, who are often overlooked in the context of what it means to be fuel poor; something Economy Energy is looking to actively rectify.
As a conscientious energy supplier, Economy Energy was keen to support this project and use their extensive experience in the prepayment energy sector to help support vulnerable customers at risk of fuel poverty.
You can find out more about the project and download our report Fuel poverty: what it means for young parents and their families here.
In addition, Economy Energy’s donation has supported our participation work, which ensures that the voices of children and young people inform and influence our programmes, practice and policy.
The donation contributed to the following:
- Young NCB Advisory Group
- YNCB’s priority work
- The All Party Parliamentary Group for Children and Policy influencing work
- Our wider participation programme of which work supports children and young people across NCB to develop their confidence and life skills and make change for themselves and their peers.
