This is a one-day introductory course for early years practitioners who are aspiring or emerging leaders, or those with supervisory experience, who would like to extend their role as a leader.
The course will provide an opportunity to reflect on leadership practice, gain confidence and feel motivated to lead and support other practitioners in their early years setting.
Participants will explore how they already move their own and others' practice forward and will examine the concept of distributed leadership. There will be a particular focus on interactions with children that have been shown to improve outcomes.
Participants will gain:
- An understanding of the key features of effective leadership in early years settings.
- Knowledge of their personal leadership strengths and areas for development.
- An understanding of leadership and effective practice to achieve positive outcomes for children.
- Knowledge of the policy context and evidence base.
Cost: £2,500 for 12–20 participants, including resources, with the local authority or organisation providing a suitable venue and any catering.
