As Policy and Public Affairs Officer, Sarah-Jane leads on developing early years policy for young children and their parents by informing and influencing government ministers, officials and parliamentarians. In particular, Sarah-Jane promotes the emotional wellbeing, mental health and inclusion of children from conception to age five and is involved in the influential All Party Parliamentary Group on Children.
Before starting at NCB, Sarah-Jane worked as a freelance consultant in NHS mental health service development and co-production, as well as running outdoor education sessions for children at London Wildlife Trust. She is particularly passionate about the positive impact of outdoor education on emotional wellbeing and inclusion, especially for more vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
Prior to this, Sarah-Jane ran a coalition on the mental health of children and young people, influencing the NHS policy and practice framework following the 2010 general election.
Sarah-Jane strongly believes in putting the voices of children and parents at the heart of early years work and is committed to ensuring that evidence and expertise from the sector informs policy development and practice improvement.
