Karl Podmore graduated in 1983 and has worked in children's social care in North Yorkshire since then.
He qualified as a social worker in 1988 at the University of York. He has worked in residential care, in field social work and has been a manager since 1996 for Child in Need, child protection and Looked After services.
Karl is now the manager of North Yorkshire County Council's Disabled Children and Young People's Service (0-25), an area of work he has taken a particular interest in since leading the Council's Aiming High programme.
Karl lives in Harrogate with his partner and two children. He is interested in photography, motor sport, French wine and music.
