We undertake high quality and rigorous research to inform policy and practice across the children's sector.

Our research portfolio spans the work of NCB, focusing on children who are, or become, vulnerable, marginalised or disadvantaged across eight areas: early years, disability, vulnerable children, education and learning, health and well-being, play, involving young people and sector improvement. We support NCB to work from an evidence-based and child-centred perspective.

We influence policy and practice development, and build capacity through methodological innovation. Our focus is on generating research outputs that are accessible to a range of audiences. We actively engage children and young people in research as participants and in the planning, delivery and dissemination of research projects.
