Young people excluded from education
Evidence from research is unequivocal in making the links
between truancy and exclusion and poor outcomes. It is clear
that these vulnerable young people who are excluded from or
disaffected with education have a number of risk factors which may
impact negatively, not only on their education but on their life
chances more generally. They have many issues that need to be
resolved but this should happen alongside not instead of a clear
focus on educational attainment which is a key protective factor.
Our work aims to support practitioners to work together to
achieve this.
