The Voluntary Sector Support programme provides a variety of practical support aimed at children and young people's voluntary and community sector organisations (VCS).

It also aims to make sure that the government listens to the voices of children and young people and the VCS organisations that work for them.

Austerity measures hitting children's charities the hardest

the ripple effect

A new NCB report finds that the children and young people's voluntary sector is amongst the hardest hit by government funding cuts and local authority austerity measures. This timely report, produced in collaboration with NCVO, provides a comprehensive analysis of the children and young people's voluntary sector in England.

'This research highlights the pivotal role that the children and young people's sector plays within our society. These services are often provided at the very heart of communities and help to give children and young people a good start in life as well as providing lasting benefits to families and communities.  The suggestion that spending cuts may threaten the survival of many of these vital services is a major concern - it is essential that government works closely with the sector to mitigate the impact of cuts as far as possible.'

Sir Stuart Etherington, Chief Executive of NCVO
