If I could change one thing...
During summer 2007, EDCM asked disabled
children, young people, and their parents: 'If you were
Prime Minister for the day, and could change one thing, what would
it be?' The top three things that disabled children told
us they would change are:
- More places to go and more things
to do
‘More activities available during the week for different age
groups, with inclusion of everyone.’
- More respect for
disabled people
‘Our communities should realise we
are part of the community too. There has to be more positive roles
for disabled people.’
- To have the same right to
a good education
‘That “average” is
all a disabled child is allowed to be. We should have the same
rights as the other children in schools.’
We have produced several booklets from the responses from both
disabled children and young people and their parents, which can be
downloaded. Or contact us and we will send you
copies.

We made a DVD, with the help of some young
people from Cambridgeshire and the Jigsaw4u group in
Sutton, which you can watch here:
