Developmental Journal for Children and Young People with Multiple Needs

boy painting in redThe Developmental Journal for Children and Young People with Multiple Needs has been produced to help families and practitioners support the achievements of children whose development is affected by multiple factors that result in challenges to learning. It is based on the concept of a series of 'Can Do' cards which help parents and practitioners to observe, record and celebrate children's and young people's abilities, and to develop and strengthen these abilities. The Journal supports key working by helping everyone involved with a child to share what they know and discuss how best to work together to support development and learning.

We suggest that before you start to use the Journal, you first read the 'How to Use' guide.

You can download the Journal in the following five sections:

MNDJ Part I: Overview Pages

This section gives you an overview of the Journal and your child's achievement. It contains a number of different pages: Introduction to your child, the Developmental Profile, Key Indicator table, Index of Items, Special Events and Achievements, Further Ideas and Things We'd Like to Ask.

Can Do Cards are at the heart of the Journal and the following sections contain the Can Do Cards for each of the four Areas of Development and Learning:

MNDJ Part II: PSE

This section contains the Can Do Cards for Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

MNDJ Part III: Communication

This section contains the Can Do Cards for Communication.

MNDJ Part IV: Physical

This section contains the Can Do Cards for Physical Development.

MNDJ Part V: Thinking

This section contains the Can Do Cards for Thinking.
