Including Me:
Managing complex health needs in schools and early years
settings
CARLIN, Jean
Including Me is a practical handbook which
will help local authorities, schools, early years settings and
health providers develop policies and procedures to ensure that
children with complex health needs can access education and
childcare.
This process is illustrated by drawing on examples of good
practice from a diverse range of areas across the country.
Five exemplars, based on real-life case examples have been
developed to demonstrate the process.

Update: guidance on clinical procedures
In ‘Including Me' there is an advisory list of procedures
previously produced by the Royal College of Nursing in 2005,
highlighting those clinical procedures which could be safely taught
and delegated to non-health qualified staff.
Further revisions have since been made to reflect some of the
queries which have arisen, clarifying points as needed. This
document will continue to be updated at periodic intervals.
