Help with PDFs

Some pages contain links to downloadable resources e.g. handouts.

These resources are in a proprietary file format and require you to install the free Adobe Reader software (previously called Adobe Acrobat Reader) on your PC. The software is available from the Adobe website. Once you have installed it on your PC, please see below for how to view or save PDFs from this toolkit.

Viewing PDFs using Adobe Reader

Double click on the file using your mouse and your computer should launch Adobe Reader software on your PC automatically to display the PDF. If you experience problems, please make sure you have installed the latest version of the software.

Saving PDFs to your computer

Please note that NCB publications are under copyright and should be used according to our Terms and Conditions.

PC users

Right-click on the link to the PDF.
Choose 'Save file as' or 'Save linked file as' from the menu.
Then choose where you'd like to save it on your computer.
Click 'Save' and the PDF will begin to download to the chosen location.

Mac users

Click and hold (or control-click) on the link to the PDF.
Choose 'Save file as' or 'Save linked file as' from the menu.
Then choose where you'd like to save it on your computer.
Click 'Save' and the PDF will download to chosen location.
Note: If prompted to save as format 'Source' or 'Text', choose 'Source'.
