NCB and Eden Brown offer their DIY skills to Tooting school
Tuesday 21 July 2009
This Sunday (19 July)
will see staff from NCB, and ten keen volunteers from recruitment
specialist Eden Brown, helping to redecorate St Boniface RC School
in Tooting.
The event marks the start of NCB's
corporate volunteering programme, which aims to give volunteers on
the ground experience of helping children and young people. The
volunteers will be painting the outside of the St Boniface building
and helping to tidy up the playground.
NCB is Eden Brown's charity of the
year, and the fundraising partnership to date has involved
parachute jumps, quiz nights and dress down days, as well as Eden
Brown staff taking part in the London 10K on 12 July.
Brendan Hanlon, Head of
Fundraising at NCB, said: 'Eden Brown staff have been
fantastic at taking on new challenges and organising events to help
improve the lives of children and young people. We are delighted to
see them taking time out of their weekends to help the school
community at St Boniface.'
Mei Ling Perrymen,
Marketing Executive at Eden Brown, said: 'Eden Brown chose
NCB to be our charity for 2009 because of the excellent work they
do in offering support to people working with children, their
families and carers, and children and young people themselves. Our
volunteers are looking forward to showing off their DIY skills on
Sunday and are keen to see how their work can make a real
difference to the lives of the children at the school.'
On Sunday The Parent Teachers
Association at St Boniface will be rewarding the hard work of the
volunteers with food and refreshments.
The event would not have been
possible without the generosity of local hardware stores, including
Russell's DIY & Hardware Store - Tooting, Homebase - South
Wimbledon, Streatham Vale and Wandsworth and B&Q - Norwood
Road.
