10K runners raise £12,500 for NCB
Thursday 24 September 2009
NCB would like to thank the 58 runners and
contributors who took part in the Asics British 10K London Run on
Sunday 12 July.
A total of £12,500 was raised for NCB. "It is a fantastic
achievement for so many people to raise such a significant amount,
enabling us to further improve the lives of children and young
people," said head of fundraising Brendan Hanlon.
The NCB squad met early at Piccadilly Circus where the runners
were greeted by an enthusiastic fundraising team who motivated
participants before the race began. The whole team completed the
race with some participants exceeding their own personal best
times. The runners included individuals from NCB's corporate
partners Eden Brown, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Turner
Broadcasting, as well as Young NCB members and a record number of
NCB staff.
Participant Adrian Calvo-Valderrama from Play England said: "To
see how many people work to improve young people's lives, makes you
feel like you - and 27,000 other runners - are not alone."
NCB hopes that next year's Asics London 10K run is as
successful.
