Promoting pupil wellbeing in school
Thursday 8 October 2009
Schools are at the heart of children and young
people's emotional, physical and intellectual development. Thanks
to Every Child Matters and the recent government white paper Your
Child, Your Schools, Our future: Building a 21st Century Schools
System, the role that schools play in securing children's wellbeing
is now being recognised.
To support schools in meeting their duties, NCB is bringing
together leading experts in the field with head teachers, school
governors and children's services professionals to examine what
exactly wellbeing is, what it means for schools, and how
partnerships can improve outcomes.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore what is needed
to meet duties and drive forward health and wellbeing outcomes.
The conference will be held on 14 October at the British
Museum.
Speakers will include children's minister Dawn Primarolo;
Patrick Leeson, Ofsted; Professor Richard Layard, LSE; Colleen
McClaughlin, University of Cambridge; Professor John West-Burnham
and Sir Paul Ennals, chief executive, NCB.
