Celebrating 10 years of Young NCB
Thursday 21 May 2009
Last month, Young NCB celebrated its 10th
anniversary with an event at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer's head
office in London. The event, organised by Young NCB's advisory
group of 18 young people, saw Young NCB members from all over the
country coming together to celebrate their achievements so far and
plan for the future.
The day featured workshops on youth crime run by Leap
Confronting Conflict, on the portrayal of young people in the media
run by Mediawise, on education and careers advice run by the Edge
Learner Forum, and on children's rights run by the Children's
Rights Alliance for England.
All the workshops focused on issues chosen as Young NCB
priorities. Britain's Got Talent semi-finalists Flava also gave a
dance workshop.
One member said: "All the workshops were great but I especially
enjoyed the Flava one. Being a Young NCB member means I get the
opportunity to take part in lots of interesting things that I
wouldn't normally get a chance to."
Awards were also presented to some individual members in
recognition of their special contributions.
