Corporate volunteering with NCB
Thursday 11 June 2009
As part of its work to build and increase
corporate support for NCB, the fundraising department has been busy
researching volunteering opportunities from across its member
organisations within the children and young people's sector.
The idea behind this initiative is that NCB will be able to
offer more to its members and partners by recruiting corporate
volunteers and enhancing the capacity of organisations, enabling
them to increase the scope of their services.
NCB knows that corporate supporters increasingly want
opportunities for their staff to be involved in hands-on activities
that really help the communities they live or work in. As such,
charities such as NCB need to offer a complete package to potential
corporate supporters to enable them to have the chance to use their
own skills and expertise to benefit third sector organisations that
may be short on time or resources.
Supporters need reassurance that their valuable skills and time
will contribute significantly to the capacity of the organisation
that they volunteer to help, and that their efforts will be
tremendously rewarding, both for them as an individual and for the
organisation.
So far, the NCB fundraising team has identified a number of
volunteering opportunities, ranging from one-off environmental and
decorating project work, to longer term schemes, such as
mentoring.
